Bulldog or Batshit?

First and foremost: It's a given that County Administrator Jim Jones is slimy. Reptilian. Self-serving. He's a big creep. There's no doubt about that. He'll do what it takes to protect Jim Jones, no matter how unethical or illegal.

But, even with that being so, I have to ask the question: Is the County Treasurer, Selinda Barkhuis, off her meds and out of her mind with this feud with Jim Jones? Or is she on to something? Is she a tenacious bulldog for justice and transparency? Or is she just batshit crazy? With all the allegations and moving parts, it's hard to tell - even with Jones being a well-established pocket-lining goon.

And speaking of being of their meds...Here's an article that centers on the Barkhuis/Jones "he said, she said" clusterfuck, and once again, what photo does the PDN use? The good old Peachmug Teaser! Yes, Bill Peach is mentioned in the article, but the article isn't about Bill Peach. Yet there he is - again. Commissioner Peachmug. Weird choice, PDN.

  1. I don't read the PDN any more, so I don't know the details of the article you're talking about. But, I did follow the past threads about Selinda's attempts to daylight the improper things going on down at the County Courthouse.

I'll admit that a lot of the details involve things I don't have extensive knowledge of. Much like when most professionals speak about the details of their work.

But, as you say, we all know Jim Jones is slimy. We all know the questionable issues that the County has undertaken, as has been talked about on these pages.

    What has changed?

  2. Though I tend to believe that Selinda is well intentioned but overzealous, the "truth" of the matter is, in my opinion, less important than the overall atmosphere of chaos and mistrust that permeates the county courthouse.

So yeah, Selinda means well, and yeah, Jones is a rat, but that doesn't mean either of them is telling the 100% truth here.

It WOULD be nice if the county commissioners would do their jobs, and rein Jones in more, and take more responsibility for the negative vibe there. But hey, they don't want to own that crock of crap any more than any one else does. So everyone points fingers, and we wind up with the circular firing squad.

  3. How about a few more facts, please? You assume everyone knows of this "feud", but that is not the case.

    1. Please check the PDN (as unpleasant as that may be) and Selinda's personal blog for all the details - and more. There's a big ol' article in the PDN today that is a good overview of the sniping and cover-ups and fussin' and a-feudin'.

    2. PDN my ass, go to the Port O Call for this kind of background info. Selinda wrote several articles for them last year. She torpedoed Jim McEntire so don't cut her short on Jones. PDN won't print the shit that happens. They sanitize shit and then ask Cherie to comment on it.

    3. Anon 9:41, you sure are right about that! Trusting the PDN for timely or correct information? As it says right at the top of this very blog: ".. and providing more information than the Peninsula Daily News could ever hope to."

Would be nice if the Port O Call grew to replace the PDN.

    4. CK asking us to go to PDN? WTF?
I don't even go on their web site anymore: "Just say no."

If you want something better, first take down the incumbent.

    5. Anonymous 10:24 AM...I do apologize for suggesting someone go slumming there, but...It's always good to know what the other side is up to, or how they're portraying things. Think of it as being like being on a debate team - know both sides of an issue.

  4. Is she still on some sort of "medical leave"? If so, when does that change to just plain leave forever?

  5. gee, thanks CK. I was already feeling nauseated this morning, and the peachfuzz pix put me over the top.

    Purged.

Too bad Clallam County can't purge out the fetid festering fuckers from the government.

  6. The typos continue:

"Commissioners decided to leave Barkhuis’ materials on the county website after a half-hour discussion.

“It’s a pubic record,” Board Chairman Mike Chapman said."

I know it wouldn't be caught by spellcheck, but anytime you write anything about the "public" it should be carefully reviewed that it didn't end up spelling out "pubic." But what else do we expect from the PDN?

    1. Ah, yes...The classic typo. Leave it to the Penisula Daily News to leave that one in!

    2. Yeah, the county just paid out half a million for redacting information and Peach wanted to do it again--actually said it out loud at a commission meeting. Luckily someone caught it and said you can't do that shit man--no matter how many times you get your picture in the paper.

    3. I'll lay even money--Jones is gone by early spring.

    5. "pubic record" as in suck this?
I think PDN had it right, actually.

  7. OK, by definition, anyone in a public decision making position for more than 5 years is "slimy, reptilian and self serving". That being accepted, Isn't it true that 3 different County Prosecutors (one also being a woman), the County Sheriff, 2 different H.R. Directors, one Risk Pool investigator, 3 different State Auditors and one Deputy Attorney General have all reviewed one or more of all of her claims against Jones...and found no wrong doing? I vote bat shit crazy! Just like Trump, fact check the lies.

  8. Like her or not, at least there's one person at the county who isn't a good ole gal!

BTW, the "Opportunity Fund" is by law for public capital projects only. According to the county's own administrative manual: "the Opportunity Fund is not intended to provide funding for a private enterprise or to provide funding for non-capital facility public
projects." Anyone with any interest in this can see that (surprise, surprise) the purposes aren't being followed.
