Name calling and threatening...how does that make for positive change? While this blog doesnt lack for at times its own hyperbole it does provide an alternative voice to the pollyanna or obfuscated reporting of PDN. I live here in PA, been unemployed for over 3 years turned down for jobs where I threatened status quo. 6 of the 9 houses on my side of the street sit empty. My take after volunteering as Planning Commissioner and at Senior Center, wandering the national park and downtown, as well as frequenting local food and beverage establishments is CK provides a necessary public service for those of us who recognize extractive millbilliness and tree mugging not the future. The apparent Our Toad, er Town vendetta against him and Dale of POC appears to be effort by those with small minds made bold by the Lier in Chief in the White House and his minions to squelch truth and dissenting voices. Simply put this place is effed up and vigilantism not helping, whether locally or internationally. Grow up and do something constructive.

ReplyDeleteFollowing on the post in a previous thread, it isn't like businesses in Port Angeles are doing so well, as it is. Reviews on Yelp and the on-line hotel and motel sites don't rate Port Angeles very well.
Is this because of Dale, or this blog? The businesses get a bad rating from patrons because of Dale writing about the County Commissioners or Port Angeles city council?
Is Port Angeles going to descend further, with signs being carried in front of businesses that support people or views we don't like?
Come this fall, after the elections, is the new council going to re-instate fluoridation of the water supply? If so, I remember people talking about meeting the ferry with placards telling visitors about the poisoned water in Port Angeles. Of handouts with lists of local businesses that serve food made with that fluoridated water. Of businesses that choose not to stand up, or who support fluoridation.
We're only weeks away.

Another objective judgement of Port Angeles. In looking at a couple properties that were put up for sale 3 months ago, none have sold, and all have dropped their asking prices by $25k to $50k. These are properties owned by long time residents. Their houses are already empty.

We all see the former Bushwackers restaurant on the main drag out of town that has been for sale since 2015. "Price reduced for quick sale" sign has been up all summer long. No bidding war there, either. Prime location.
Yes, the real estate people in Port Angeles have a long history of suckering "out-of-towners" into getting trapped by buying into what they are told are "great opportunities". The problem lies with the leadership, such as it is, at the PA Police Department and the county prosecutor's office. Park Ranger turned chief of police Brian Fife cannot find the one bullet they give him so he relies on the eternally corrupt Jason Viada. Viada was made asst. chief because Brian can't find his asshole and Viada can at least do that. Get these three out of the picture and you have a chance at re-creating a town worthy of the majority of the people who live here. In a sane police department these OT taliban would have been mopped up and sent to Walla Walla 2 years ago. Instead Chief Barney Smith goes to their meetings and tells them what a great job they are doing. Hard to tell who/what Viada is "doing."
