Port Angeles is a Turd World Country, and It's Time to Flush Out the Democratic Party ***(Headline Updated to Reflect Reality)***

Meanwhile, the battle for control of the Clallam County Democratic Party rages on...

http://portocallpublishing.com/2017/03/main-event-mossbacks-versus-progressives-come-one-come-all/

Let me be blunt: I am an unapologetic progressive. Obama, though a potent symbol, and a good leader in some areas, also set the stage for much of what Trump is doing. Obama deported HUGE numbers of people. Obama increased the use of drones, and the number of (lethal) drone strikes, thereby increasing the number of civilians "accidentally" killed. Obama went after leakers HARD. Trump is just coming in with his fragile ego and a bottle of steroids and amping it all up.

Further, Clinton was an AWFUL candidate, generated ZERO organic enthusiasm, and is a greedy, slippery character. There was only one candidate who could have lost to Trump, and she was that candidate. But the good old Democratic Party did their best to cram her down the throats of voters, after screwing over and marginalizing the one candidate (Bernie Sanders) who managed to excite and engage more voters than anyone else.

And here we are. All of which is by way of asking...What good is the good old Democratic Party now? Clinton is done, gone, and so should be Steve Tharinger, Norma Turner, Ed Chadd, Ron Richards, and even and especially that cowardly peacock of all colors, Mike Chapman. Along with all their icky ilk, needless to say.

Or to put it another way: Why would anyone think that the old school losers who have helped shape Port Angeles into the heap it is today, are the people who can help reshape it into a success? How many failures do you forget? How many disappointments can you overlook? Why not try something, and someone, new?

  1. I couldn't vote for either Trump OR Clinton. What terrible choices. ...we get the government we deserve.

    1. Glad to be anywhere but Clallam County.

Oh, and just so you all know, the troll that tries (and fails) to haunt this blog is trying to taunt me for "revealing" that I consider myself progressive.

Uh, like you might have thought I was a Republican if I hadn't said anything else? What kind of moron are you?

Oh, that's right. The kind who thinks EVERYTHING IS FINE in Port Angeles.

    2. And, apropos of nothing...I just got in from seeing the new movie LIFE.

If you've seen the trailer (maybe in Port Townsend?) and it looks like it might appeal to you, I suggest you just watch ALIEN again instead. LIFE is just...Eh.

And, of course, life is too short to live in Port Angeles.

    3. Oh you silly rabbit. Kinda edgy are we? Always knew you weren't a Republican you moron. My friend, you're so predictable. Nobody else as smart as you. What a joke. Give it up and back down your hole you go. You have so few followers.....nobody cares about your vial opinions or thoughts. Oh, and please stay away.

    4. I wanted to see that but of course it is not coming here. Now, I have *heard* that the evangelicals that operate that theater chain are selective - you get a movie that promotes religion and it's here for weeks. But any type of horror generally doesn't come here. "Get Out" sure didn't because it would likely offend the old white guard, which is exactly why it's being hailed for its social commentary and receiving a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. I'm guessing the only time a horror movie slips through is if it's part of a package deal to be able to get some other big ticket movie. I have absolutely no proof of any of this but it's what I've been told through the rumor mill and would love to know if anyone has any information to the fact.

    5. Hey, Anonymous 9:05 AM...GET OUT is pretty damned brilliant. Yes, it is technically a horror film, but it is so much more than that. I highly recommend seeing it. It doesn't sound like much out of context, but man, the line "Sink into the floor" is a creepy classic.

    6. As for you, troll, I've posted your latest lame comment so my readers can see what I have to deal with by way of losers. Yes, I have READERS, not "followers." Big difference.

Also, just a little FYI for you, I do not, in fact, keep my opinions in a vial.

    7. Vials are so useful, though.

As you know better than most, some people have nothing better to do, than troll.

    8. CK, maybe you keep your opinions in a vial, but trolls keep their brains in a thimble.

    9. THAT particular troll sounds like the dipshit who keeps speaking at the council meetings.

He believes he would be king.

Dummy doesn't even KNOW how to pronounced the words he uses. (In his book BANAL rhymes with ANAL.) He's taken to reading definitions to the council. They eyes glaze over. God help us if this is a winning council candidate.

      What a doofus.

    10. Deer Park sucks.

      Cheap bastards, too.

Why turn off the "what's playing" sign at 9pm? It isn't like anyone travels after the owner of the place goes to bed, right?

And, who wants to see advertising for a storefront church? Can't even see what movies are playing as you drive by. Ads, ads ads.

Thanks, I'll either wait to stream a movie, or drive somewhere less stupid and patronize a deserving business.

    11. Yes, but this is why Port Angeles is so successful. Personal politics outweigh community benefit.

  4. Here is a video from yesterday, that speaks to this (it is only 2 and a half minutes long, so no big committment):

You're right. With a track record of total failure, how can the Old Guard bother to resist change.

    1. I'm sure Grant Munro thinks everything is great in Port Angeles. The machines keep cutting down the forests as fast as they can, and the truck drivers get them to the Port of Port Angeles lands as fast as they can, and they keep loading 'em up on the ship inn the harbor.

'The Marine Trades" people must love the steady stream of oil tankers that come to the Port Angeles harbor.

      Why change anything?

    2. Certainly they love the fact the Port Of Port Angeles, (spelled: Taxpayers) pay for all the heavy equipment necessary to handle the logs once they arrive on the waterfront. Soon the Port of Port Angeles, (spelled taxpayers) will be spending $4-5 million to build a waste water treatment plant to clean up all the sludge created by the log yard on port property (spelled: Taxpayers). So, all munro has to do is make a phone call, buy the timber, phone up a sub contract crew to fell the trees, send Hermann Brothers trucks out to haul them, bring them to the waterfront and the Port takes over. Nice gig if you can get it. Think about how much of his expenses are externalized. The port buys all the equipment to run a timber company, Hermann Bros furnishes the trucks, taxpayers repair the roads torn up by the trucks, the taxpayers pay to clean up this mess created by the logging yard and not one dime winds up in the revenue stream for schools, parks, hospitals, roads etc. Nice work when you can steal it.

    3. Don't forget, Munro left the taxpayers holding the bag for a quarter million in utility bills when he walked away from Pen-Ply. He stiffed the port too on rent but they took him back, no questions asked, no unpaid bills paid, etc. These are criminal acts in other jurisdictions but perfectly okay here.

    4. A lot more money than just what was left owed to the city was sucked out of taxpayer pockets. Read this:

  5. Speaking of a "Tale of Two...", the rumor mill is also talking about the two performing arts places being built downtown. Yes, the one under construction in the old Lincoln Theater, and the one in planning stages at the Oak Street property.

That Port Angeles has enough people with enough money and interest to keep two performing arts venues running and profitable is questionable, from the onset. Was there any kind of real, actual market analysis done? One that evaluated having two, only a few blocks from each other?

But, also being considered is an idea considered a few years ago. Adding a convention facility to the performing arts facility at the Oak Street property.

Most any municipal planner knows that convention facilities don't make money. Even in big cities with lots of things to do nearby. But, we're talking about Port Angeles, where reality does not apply.

    There must be grants involved.

  6. Notice how deftly the new Performing Arts Center morphed into a "Convention Center." These bastards will even ripoff a deceased lady who left a wad of money intending to do some good. Instead, they take her bequest, wrap some developers wet dream of a convention center, perhaps to take in all those drunk and crazy conventioneers who prowl the streets late at night after Boeing Team Building Meetings. You watch, this lady's ten million dollar bequest will melt away into the convention center construction--all of this orchestrated by the same judge who gave Adam Chamberlin back his gun rights. what could go wrong?

    1. So, the Oak Street project is the result of some lady's fantasy? No real studies done to figure out if it really will fly?

Is Dan Williams' Fantasy Tram involved in this, too?

What is it with this town? Any other place, studies are done, first, before projects are built. Here, all it takes is "Wouldn't it be great if..?" and "Sounds good to me!"

    2. "convention center" hahahahaahahhaha. There is NO ONE at the city, and very doubtful anyone locally who even knows how to advertise and book a convention. We don't have any "meeting planners" locally. So, its going to go bust, and be a big white elephant.
Add to that the reality that there are hardly any small "conventions" anymore. Very few compared to the hey-day of them back when. With conference calls and group skype calls -- why should a business send anyone anywhere?

The huge trade shows are a whole other thing, but we don't have the infrastructure to support a major trade show -- nor the road to get to us, nor a working airport, nor the hotel rooms, or the car rentals.
This is greed and stupidity. Something that we have an abundance of, though.

    4. I was on the Coho ferry the other day, returning from a few days away from the shithole. Got to talking with a fellow passenger who had stayed in Port Angeles with their husband while they waited to catch the ferry. Their comment? "What is with Port Angeles? Every other place we visited was so interesting and inviting. Even Sequim was more interesting than Port Angeles".

Maybe they should build their convention center in Sequim?

    5. You'd be surprised at how many local govt officials travel to meetings ALL THE TIME all over the state. So much money wasted. We have not embraced video or even phone conferencing to the extent that any efficient business would. Plus you know how we LOVE spending money!

  7. On a related, partisan note...Isn't it so nice to see the blowhard liar in the White House suffer such a humiliating defeat? I was smiling and laughing all day. And I am sure this is just the first of many embarrassing failures to come for the so-called "dealmaker." He's Clallam County-level political "talent" elevated to the national level. Already we can see how well that's working out.

    1. Maybe someday the people who fall for the rhetoric these politicians spew will figure out that "sometimes, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is."

If some person stands up and says they have all the answers to your complaints, they probably are full of shit.
