Turner Over(lord)

An update deserving of its own posting...

For anyone interested, yesterday the Old School Democrats sent packing the Progressive wing of their party. Now we can rely upon Norma Turner to carry the Democratic Flag into the future. They try to paint her as the leading progressive in the county. She who wants to force feed fluoride to everyone in the county (serving big pharma and big chemicals) and she spoke at the county commission in support of spending almost a million dollars to crush 33 homes and haul them to the dump. During the county commission candidate debate she asked a most penetrating question of Randy Johnson who was running against her long time Democratic pal, Ron Richards. The question, the burning question of multi-millionaire timber baron who had just recently ripped off the junior taxing districts with his foothills land swap where he made six million off the taxpayers--her burning question? "How much longer will we need to support the EDC?" This is the strength of the "opposition party" in Clallam County. Way to go Dems.

  1. Why do they call themselves Democrats? They aren't. They are Republicans.

Lee Camp says it right, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8sM3v6_VSU

It is no secret, we all know the mainstream political parties have been taken over by corporate interests. On the national level, it is Wall Street, etc. On the local/Port Angeles level, it is Norma representing Big Pharma. No surprise.

So. Whatcha gunna do about it?

  2. That Mr. Johnson can get elected, as did his cronies before him, speaks volumes about the off-the-chart ignorance meter around here.

Tell me, what the hell is wrong with enticing some real entrepreneurship, rather than constant kiss-ass kowtowing to the biggest welfare-whoring socialist loggers imagineable?

  3. The local Democratic party needs a total flushing of their system, a total transfusion of new blood, before they can ever hope to be representative and effective. Our city council needs a total flushing of council members, a total transfusion of new blood, before they can ever hope to be representative and effective. City staff needs a total cleansing, a flushing of all old staffers and ideas, before they can ever hope to be representative and effective.

Now, what are the odds of these things happening?

Riiight. So either sit tight and watch the continued slide into oblivion, or move away. Those are your only two options here.

  4. Maybe Oppelt will buy the recently vacated furniture store next to the vacated movie theater, and put in another Gastropub.

    Or, maybe a convention center!

Oh, more of the same? Nothing new?

    Right. This is Port Angeles.

  5. It seems the local so-called Democratic Party knows they are driving away new members in droves, and don't seem to care. Their egos stand in the way of doing what is best for the City, County and Country.

  6. this same power play is being carried out across the country -- for both dems and repubs. It might be the, long needed, break down of the two parties which have, long since lost the plot, and become too power hungry.

    1. Absolutely. It's pathetic - PATHETIC - that here, in the so-called "Land of the Free," that we have a whopping TWO mainstream political parties to chose from. This severely limits the choices voters have, and leads directly to the gridlock we see acted out on a daily basis.

For this to be a real, actual, functional, representative democracy, we need to have at least five or six viable, mainstream parties that can compete for votes. The more choices the better.

(Please note: I am well aware that we have a multitude of smaller political parties in this country. That is why I used descriptors like "viable"...)

    2. Dems vs. Repubs was ALWAYS just another wedge issue.

Never mind the men behind the curtain!
You might find answers to your problems if you ask a few pointed questions...

As for PA, the grant-addicted whores haven't come close to hitting rock bottom yet. There's still blood in this turnip that needs squeezing by the loggers.

    3. And, you have to have a population that doesn't just react to Fox News crazy rhetoric. Look what happened this last election cycle.

  7. Given the aging babyboomer tsunami that is cresting, PA could become the nursing home capital of the US. Real estate prices are affordable, the wage for nursing assistants is relatively low here. People could visit Olympic National Park and drop in on the folks after a day hike.

  9. Does anyone know if Retired Superior Court Judge,
    G. B. Chamberlin is any relation to local vigilante, Adam Chamberlin? If so it would explain why most all the charges against Adam Chamberlin were dropped by the Prosecuting Attorney, Mark Nichols. It might also explain why another Superior Court Judge restored Adam Chamberlin's gun privileges after several felony convictions. Inquiring minds want to know.

    1. The judge died in '94, largely escaping the Internet. His son died a few years back, no Adam in the obituary survivors' lists. It'll have to be local knowledge.

    1. And they managed to work in yet another baseless slam of Max Mania, because, as the only member of the council who had balls and ethics at that time, the spineless and morally bankrupt PDN just had to try and take him down. But watch them boost know-nothing Cherie Kidd, oh boy! That rag does such an incredible disservice to this town, it's criminal.

  14. Open Letter to Comm. Mark Ozias:

Mark Ozias, Chair, Clallam County Board of Commissioners

    Good Morning Commissioner:

As you are Chairman of the Board of Clallam County Commissioners I call upon you to postpone the scheduled hearing regarding the award of Opportunity Fund grant to Peninsula Housing Authority until an independent, unbiased investigation can be conducted into the possibility of fraud surrounding the application.

A preliminary journalistic investigation suggests there may be irregularities in the manner in which this award was requested and approved.

There have been attempts to mislead and misdirect the BOCC and the public as to the legality of the use of these funds. Those possibly involved in this subterfuge include the County Prosecutor's office, the Op-Fund advisory board, board members of the Peninsula Housing Authority and other, not yet named, individuals.

Until there is an independent, outside investigation of this chain of events leading to the award of this grant the public cannot be assured of the legality of this use of Opportunity Fund funding.

    I bring you these facts:

The Peninsula Housing Authority falsely supported this grant application as using the funds to construct a Boys and Girls Club.

The local paper falsely announced the use of the funds as going to "construction of a Boys and Girls Club.

The official Agenda for the County Commission meeting falsely listed the use of these funds as "Construction of a Boys and Girls Club.

A letter from David Alveraz of the County Prosecutor's office falsely approved the use of Op-Fund money based on their use as going for "construction of a Boys and Girls Club.

Of course none of this is true and the community has not yet learned of the misdirection and misinformation. The actual intended use of these funds is for the destruction and removal of 33 perfectly good homes now sitting on the property the PHA hope to unnecessarily redevelop.

Therefore it is incumbent upon you, as chair of the BOCC, to postpone this upcoming hearing on the use of these funds and call for a fair and independent outside agency, such as the state's Attorney General, to investigate the possible attempts at fraud and conspiracy to defraud the county government and thus the taxpayers.

Obviously the County Prosecutor's Office is not a proper agency to investigate this matter as they may be implicated in the illegal activity surrounding this matter.

I hope you will give this matter your utmost attention.

    Thank you.

  15. Now that Spring Break is over, and all those tourists and visitors are gone, we can finally get back to getting things done around here!

Did you see the mobs at those beaches downtown? It was just like Florida, with the girls in bikinis, the guys doing dumb things to get the girls attention. And the hotels in town? Full of all those Spring Break partyers? Wow! It'll take weeks for the town to recover, but it was worth it. The merchants are all happy, and the town's tax coffers got a welcomed filling up.

Back to reality in Port Angeles. I was walking the dog downtown, down by the ferry dock. The place was so busy. There were so many people trying to get on the ferry to Victoria, they ended up leaving about 20 vehicles behind. Just not enough room for all the people wanting to go.

Meanwhile, the rest of Port Angeles was deadsville.

  16. I see the ghosts of Fluoride Past are returning to the City Council agenda, this Tuesday. All the fun and games from a year ago are back, and under discussion again.

From reading the note from the City Manager, it looks like Bloor wants money to hire a law firm to challenge the petition all those residents signed, to get the issue on the ballot this fall.

    Here we go again.

  17. Did you read the piece over on Clallam Courier about the "city-wide Wi-Fi" scam? Right on target.

Yes, once again, the people of Port Angeles got scammed, and there was Cherie Kidd, right in the center, screeching away. But, former Port Angeles Mayor Karen Rodgers preceded her, with the contracts to her friends (and weren't they the owners of the buildings she ran her "consulting" business out of, that "advised" paying clients how best to get contracts with the city she was the mayor of?) at "Capacity Provisioning"?

Oh, that was years ago. We were screwed then by her and them. Life is so much better now, right?
