Whether Arriving Early, Or Delayed Until Later...The News is Bad News

It might come early...

Port Angeles Haggen to close its doors today; store to shut weeks earlier than first expected

Or it might be delayed until later...

Port Angeles City Council delays decision on admonishment of Deputy Mayor Cherie Kidd

But either way, the news is bad for Port Angeles. Which leads to my prediction: A double-jeopardy defense is used to force the issue to a vote, resulting in a 3-3 split, which means any motion to admonish will fail. (Of course, if a motion to absolve also splits and fails...Cherie must reside in limbo for the rest of her unnatural life.)

But let's remember that this complaint was and is all about Cherie acting in an unprofessional and out of line manner. Yes, let us remember, because clearly she doesn't...

After Councilmembers took up the agenda item on her potential admonishment, Kidd immediately began arguing that there weren't enough Ethics Board members to handle the three complaints that have been filed. Councilman Lee Whetham interrupted her, declaring a point of order. He suggested City Attorney Bill Bloor (himself the subject of an ethics complaint) address whether Kidd should recuse herself - which Bloor said she should.

Kidd then left the Council chambers and did not take part in Tuesday's discussion.

Whether it's that Cherie cannot learn, or simply refuses to learn, the fact remains that Cherie Kidd is an idiot who has not learned a thing.

  1. And, again, the PDN didn't open the Comments feature online for the Kidd article. Their bias has become very annoying.

    1. They've also been printing a series of pro-fluoridation/anti-ethics committee letters this week.

    2. What the PDN is doing is trying to control public reaction to what their elected representatives are doing.

Imagine if the comments section was chock full of outraged people. Readers would see that they are not alone in thinking the situation is beyond LaLA Land, and might think "Gee, there are a lot of us that are not happy. Maybe we should get together and do something about this." They might even use the comments section to suggest a protest. Or ongoing protests. With all the negative things the leadership in town keep doing, people might get together, and try to change things.

And, the PDN will have no part in allowing that.

So, you see a consistent pattern of not allowing public comment on certain stories, of stories being twisted to make critics look like the problem, not what the leadership is doing, and of obviously controversial things just not being covered by the PDN. Put it all together, and you get their version of "social control".

And you thought a newspaper provided information so you could make up your OWN mind.

    4. Anon 6:43 Welcome to Port Angeles.

Yes, you're free to say anything you like, as long as we agree with it.

  4. The funny part is, Mayor Pat Downie, also under ethics charges, began the discussion by saying maybe he should recuse too but then went on to muddy the issue by suggesting the ethics ordinance may be faulty because there may be an opportunity for someone to be twice judged for the same behaviors. Now of course "double jeopardy" is unconstitutional but it must be an imminent threat before one can claim the protections of double jeopardy. The fact that two different complaints were lodged against the same person (Kidd) for the same behaviors has no bearing on this case. The first charge against Kidd was decided and she was found guilty. Double jeopardy does not attach unless she is about to be judged AGAIN for the same bahaviors. Since only one ethics committee has ever met there has been no risk of double jeopardy. The bullfrog of bullshit (Bloor) could have made this apparent to the council but remained tight lipped. Why? Perhaps because he too is under ethics charges. Now, because of a non-issue being falsely put up as an issue Bloor gets to rewrite the Ethics Ordinance to make it more to his liking. Talk about an ethical dilemma, the target of an ethics complaint gets to rewrite the ethics ordinance. Only in Port Angeles.

  5. So by Cherie's logic, if there were ten burglaries in a night, and only five officers on duty that night, then there "wouldn't be enough" police officers to handle the situation, so some of the burglars shouldn't get in trouble for their actions. Do I have this "logic" right, Cherie? Because, so sorry to say, but, to some of us, your "reasoning" sounds quite unreasonable and just plain stupid.

    1. she'd say your argument was an ad hominem, even though she can't even use that phrase correctly in a sentence (nor does she understand what it might mean).
Cherie tried pointing the finger at someone else (Lee) and then she wanted everyone to rethink their decisions, because "it wasn't fair" and now she wants to find some other reason that it's not true. The woman has the reasoning abilities of a 5 year old, and I wouldn't even insult a child to compare her intelligence to even the slowest child in the park.
The reality is she is a spoiled brat. She's all ego, no substance.
Look at all she does for us? We should be grateful for all she does. Right?
She's like that 1961 Cadillac sitting on blocks in the garage. All show, no go.

  6. Wow! Yes CK, you're right. Cherie obviously has not learned a thing. This whole episode demonstrates how little Cherie Kidd cares about the town and it's residents. She can't even see how she herself has destroyed her own reputation in the community. I will always look upon her, and remember her as a self centered autocrat that could have done good things for Port Angeles, but instead chose to drag the town down. No matter where she goes, or what she does from now on.

  7. Still no PDN coverage of PA Public Access acquiring a lease to the old fire station from the City Council. The vote was 5-1. Who voted against it and why?

    1. The PDN is actively and aggressively engaged in social control. It will be interesting to see how it reacts when the Public Access TV is up, running and live streaming 24/7. Local news, events, and shows you can access anywhere in the world? So, what is the PDN going to do?

      Delete
    2. Will the station advertise in the PDN?

    3. Good point Anon 7:55 The PDN won't be able to compete with it. Right now, they are the only game in town for near daily local information. KONP is there, but hardly credible. Radio isn't going to replace video of Johnny batting the winning home run in for the Roughrides, or of Cherie bashing her gavel to bits while shrieking like a banshee.

This is going to be different. We'll see what happens.

I rewound several times and still can't figure out whether Lee or Michael, or maybe both of them voted against it. Oh well. They supported the lease but not the lack of public process that led to it being brought before the council.

Also, Cherie Kidd trigger warning, Cherie refers to the building multiple times as "she". Fucking creepy.

    6. Wow! Do you seriously watch youtube videos of council meetings? That's so indicative of a life not worth living. Sheesh try taking a hike, watching the sunrise or sunset, take a moment to watch kids playing sports or at the park, watch a deer eat someone's roses.

Wait I know... you are involved and informed and the keeper of the watch!

      Good job.

    7. Hey 6:05AM, really? Many of us are here to fact-check all the BS. Whoever caught that detail made yet another good point about Kidd's psychopathies. Doesn't mean that person doesn't have "a life not worth living." You a friend of that nutty Kidd or something?

WOW! Do you seriously not watch YouTube videos of council meetings? Are you so stupid that you can't make sense of them, or something? Talk about not giving a fat rat's shit about what is going on in our city that affects you.
I take it that you also don't watch any television, either? Right?

Seriously? Are you really as mind numbingly stupid as your post makes you sound?

If you don't pay attention to what your elected representatives are doing, ummm, do you think they could get away with doing bad things?

Or, do you figure it is somebody else's job to keep watch on things, so you can post here and show us all how dumb you can be?

    10. Ha, that's a GREAT attitude..don't watch council meeting videos because we the public are supposed to be interested in going to the park and NOT WATCHING what our elected officials are doing. If you consider it a life not living to be interested in what your elected officials are doing then you must be an elected official yourself..sheesh!

    11. Dear 6:05,

It only took about 30 minutes to watch the relevant discussion and vote, hardly a waste of time. Perhaps it is you who should "take a hike" instead of discouraging people from caring about what their local government does.

    12. Wonder if 6:05 was Gase, or was it Kidd...or did they together type that?
They'd sure like everyone to STOP watching, and go back to our lives, so they can keep on doing what they want to do.

  10. Just a heads up to those on here, there has been two pretty serious hate crimes committed in the past week. A bottle was thrown at and hit a black man on 8th street after a window warrior called him a "nigger." The other incident was where a Muslim student got ran down and verbally assaulted at the Gateway center for wearing her hijab. We really need to start taking bigger stands against racism and bigotry. People like to ignore this issue far too often here in PA. Start by bitch slapping your local bigot.
