Free - Yes, FREE - Legal Advice

Unsurprisingly, the City of Port Angeles is now seeking a new trial to try and claw back the $1.5 million in damages that was awarded to Yvonne Ziomkowski.

Here's Bill Bloor's explanation for it:

City Attorney Bill Bloor said the decision to seek a new trial was made by the Washington Cities Insurance Authority, a municipal risk pool, without objection by the City. "It's a fairly routine matter," he said.

Oh yes, yes it is, Bill. It is a routine matter for the City to receive the bulk of their legal advice from outside sources, since you farm out pretty much everything except sitting in the chair in your office to other firms, other sources, all of which costs the City big money. Yet you still draw your wildly inflated salary for being "an attorney."

But you don't even play one on TV - not yet, anyway. (Hello, PAPA!)

So here's some FREE legal advice to the City: If you really want to recover $1.5 million dollars, why not take back Bloor's salary for the last seven or eight years of his worthless service?

  1. Sorry, but FUCK the city. They did wrong, and they have to pay.

I just wish they had to find the money in their own budget, rather than having their insurance carrier pick up the bulk of it. They need to learn to stop doing the wrong thing. They need to learn to stop screwing people over.

  2. Bloor makes over $200,000 per including benefits. The city pays out another $750,000 to outside firms who actually perform the city's legal chores. Why in the hell is he still around? Does he have 'the goods" on some powerful people who are afraid to fire him. That's okay, the petitions will be turned in this week to fire the entire city council and the new council better damn well run on the platform of booting Bloor or they will never get a vote.

  3. Fire Bloor. Buy a Magic 8 Ball to give legal advice to the city council. The results would likely be better, or at worst the same, but it'd still be a lot cheaper.

    1. Absolutely - Bloor must go. He was chosen over other more qualified applicants because people in power then (Rogers; Williams; Headrick; Cutler et al) wanted a mental and moral weakling who would do their bidding, and/or be too befuddled to even recognize wrong-doing and corruption.
Unfortunately, the present city manager lacks the will, the managerial background and/or the backbone to do the right thing and fire Bloor.

  4. Apropos of nothing...Someone landed here in the last day by (Ye Gods!) searching for "port angeles aerial tram," and someone has landed here five (five!) times by searching for "crylt kicker pt angled." They can't spell, but points for consistency!

  5. Bloor is the pos king of city hall, single-handedly ruining this place (at the behest of his white-collar criminal handlers). Make no mistake, he controls the entire council. Everyone's eyes ought to be more focused on what he does day in & day out.

    1. "Pos king"? Please explain...Thank you!

    2. Look up "POS" at urbandictionary.com or similar site. Hint: as used it does not stand for positively outstanding service.

    5. So, well, first of all, thanks for the clarification(s). Second though...Shouldn't that be POS King? All caps would help call it out, at least for me.

  6. During the first ethics committee hearing Bloor was the legal advisor to the committee. Cherie Kidd was charged with ethics violations. Her defense was that she got advice from Bloor and only did what he told her. Bloor said repeatedly there was no conflict with his client using his advice to defend against charges being considered by a panel whom he was also advising. What the hell does it take for someone to recognize a conflict of interest around here? I hope someone will write the bar association and get their opinion of what constitutes a conflict of interest.

    1. Doesn't help that he also keeps yapping to the PDN, and "advising the council" on what actions to take ("or they could take none" Bloor quote). He also has attempted to taint the 2nd ethics committee -- from afar, with his Bullshit Bullfrog nonsense about "double jeopardy" (not the game show).
      The man has no ethics.
Don't forget,he was at the Ground Hog Day meeting, and didn't make a peep when Cherie was running around like a demented, headless chicken. Nor did he say, or even clear his throat, when Cherie was trying to shove Lee under the bus -- in her lying under oath story telling.

    2. Surely, surely you're not saying that the Bullfrog of Bullshit should have corrected Miss Golden Gavel 2016? After all this is city hall we're talking about. When the facts don't fit the story, toss out the facts!

    3. Ooops good point.
You'd think he MIGHT consider actually doing his job and protecting the city. But....clearly, I'm mistaken in this concept.

    4. Bloor is extremely partial to the majority block of 4. For example, Mr. Whetham almost never gets an answer from him, and when he does it's no advice at all. Bloor is a politician who knows very little about the law, and nothing about procedure. He has abused the office of city attorney for his handlers' gain. No moral compass.

  7. Speaking of Bloor's conflicts of interest, up until this year Bloor was the one who decided what crimes in the city to prosecute. He also selected the city's public defender. So, he decides who to charge with what and who will defend (or not defend) his charges. Quite a nice little package.

  8. "It's a fairly routine matter," he said.

Dang, he can tell the whoppers as good as Kidd.
