Yes, that grand old waster of time and tax dollars, William Sheehan, has made five more public records requests in Clallam County...
In total, William Sheehan has made five broad records requests to the two offices in the past two weeks: two to the prosecutor’s office and three to the Sheriff’s Office.
“I have no plans with the data until such time I receive it,” Sheehan said in an interview Thursday. “It doesn’t make sense to make a plan with something I don’t have.”
Sheehan has asked the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office to make available for inspection “any and all” documents providing information about all employees, agents and temporary workers, including phone numbers, compensation, employee files and personal records. He also requested “any records that show terminated employees in the last 5 years and any records you may have that will lead to the requested data, including all cell phone records.”
You know, I really resent someone, like William Sheehan, who puts me in the position of agreeing with Bill Benedict. Fine, yes, we get it, Mr. Sheehan - there's a lot of personal information out there available to the public. Wow, gosh, thanks ever so much for making that obvious point over and over and over and over again and again and again. We get it.
A picture of William Sheehan's brain...
The thing that has people upset, sir, is that it is pretty presumptuous and arrogant for a nutjob like you to stick your oar in in a county where you don't even live. What's more, by doing so you do indeed tie up many, many, many hours of government employees time, wasting untold amounts of taxpayer dollars in the process. All to make an obvious point - one that you have been making for years, you jackass - in a place you do not live.
All of which means, Mr. Sheehan, sir, that you are not a patriot. Not a freedom-loving truth-teller. You're just an obnoxious asshole. Which, as stated before, means it makes a certain amount of sense you'd end up involved with things in Clallam County.
Sadly this may stampede the legislature to tighten up the rules on public records requests and spoil it for legitimate requests. Decades of work went into making public records available to the general public and one jackass can ruin it for all time.
ReplyDeleteSheehan needs to buy a house, or shut his mouth. Of the two, I'd prefer he just shut his mouth. We have enough lunatics here already.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a problem with an "outsider" seeing a problem, and trying to help.
ReplyDeleteWhat I do have a problem with is this:
“I have no plans with the data until such time I receive it,” Sheehan said in an interview Thursday. “It doesn’t make sense to make a plan with something I don’t have.”
So, all these people have to assemble all this information, in 5 different requests to two public agencies, for no reason other than Mr. Sheehan feels like making them do it. As he himself says, he had no plans for what to do with the information when he asked for it. He just wants to make them jump "that high", because he has the legal right to do so.
This is a wildly different use of the FOIA than someone looking for supporting evidence of specific activities they are following up on. Wanting to see who said what, when concerning a supposedly public decision, for example. Or, the procedural history of a project.
the guy is a nutjob, to be certain. He has no idea what he is doing, just does it to make noise, and get attention. His website has long since been taken down (so he doesn't even "publish" anymore).
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, we have to put up with some crazies, always, to allow for sane people to use the law in the proper way.
I think the Sheriff brought this upon himself by making a fuss about Madam's request. Shame on him.
Just so you all know... Apparently, we're not allowed to be critical of Mr. Sheehan, because he used to be in the Navy. I would ask that the person who so colorfully told me this use the same rule when talking about John McCain's vote to torpedo the repeal of the ACA.
ReplyDeleteI don't know why people don't get that there's jerks in every employment field. Just because someone worked at such and such a place doesn't mean they aren't a jerk.
ReplyDeleteI "early retired" from a public service job in a mid-western state before moving to WA years ago. Today I received the following email message, and am wondering if the FOIA it describes is tangentially related to the ones described in this thread?
ReplyDelete"The Office of Retirement Services recently received a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request from:
American Transparency
P.O. Box 970999
Boca Raton, FL 33497-0999
http://www.openthebooks.com
The request specifically asks for each retiree’s name, pension amount, and retirement effective date. If you have any questions about why the information was requested or how it may be used, please contact American Transparency."
Alot worse than this has happened before with the cost of producing Public Records in Clallam County. As much as I detest the county's practices, IMO let it do its job here, in the best incompetent manner that it does, don't worry about one case changing the law, and focus on far more important local issues, of which there are plenty.
ReplyDeleteBenedict was in the navy too. I guess all that time sailing the seven seas has created a deep brotherhood.
ReplyDeleteAnd let's not forget Navy vet Glenn Cutler. I guess I will have to take back anything bad I ever said about that miserable, lying...Oh, oops!
DeleteGlenn Cutler was a nasty piece of shit.
DeleteCan this town go one day without some crazy thing happening?
ReplyDeleteSome people just grow up without learning one of life's most important adult lesson. Just because you can do something does not mean you should. William Sheehan perhaps you could use your evil powers for good. Leave the goddamn sheriff alone! He is a busy man. Why don't you see what you can do about getting that mother f****r Donald Trumps Tax records so he can be arrested! Save the world William, save the world!
ReplyDeleteJust for context in thinking about larger issues: The south LOST the Civil War. The Nazis LOST World War II. These racist whack jobs trying to cling to those hateful ideologies are betting on LOSING ideas.
ReplyDeleteYes, good point.
DeleteThis is consistent with the Trump supporters who feel they've been "wronged" by the rest of the world as it moves forward, who hold onto a fantasy of some time in the past when "America was Great", and feel they have some kind of "right" to impose their racist, bigoted, homophobic, anti-environment and regressive agendas on the rest of us.
We're seeing the same thing here in Port Angeles. Sadly, a bunch of these losers feel they have been vindicated with the election of Trump, and now is their time to rule. Which translates in seeing that moron with the "White Power" sign on the raised pick up we see driving through town.
While we're talking wierdos let's remember our local Matthew Rainwater, chairman of the local republican party. He made a public records request of the county treasurer asking for all of her emails since taking office seven years ago. This is pure harassment and waste of taxpayer money. I thought republicans were all about saving taxpayer money. Oh yeah, he wants you give him money to build homes for homeless vets. I smell another clallam county scam.
ReplyDeleteThe Republican Party has NEVER been about saving taxpayer money. Forget the thousands of examples at the Federal level; how many "economic development" boondoggles did local GOP (Good Ol' Plutocrat) head Dick Pilling support over the years? I mean, yeah, health care for the American people is a travesty, right, but Harbor-Works, well, that was a really, really sound "investment"? Gimme a break...
DeleteMathyou Rainman is a republican? That can not be accurate.
DeleteIs he not one of the Light Up the Lincoln board members that didn't pony up his i n funds but thought he could get $100 from each resident to save the grand o'l Lincoln (and quickly failed raising $68,000 of the $1,200,000 needed).
Mathyou part too,
DeleteIs it true the first failed 501c3 (light up the Lincoln) was closely followed by pennies for quarters another 501c3 to build tiny home for super sized veterans that are homeless.
Q1) why not be a real republican and take the risk and operate this like a business-why hide behind a 501c3?
Q2) why are you playing the veteran card? Their hasn't been forced service (draft) since the 1970's. Today's veterans volunteered and knew and willing chose the path. America ya gotta stop feeling guilty about Vietnam these boys and girls today are responsible for their choice
You're right, CK. The local Republicans have supported every scam that has ripped off taxpayers, for years now.
DeleteAnd Harbor Works is a perfect and clear example AND indictment of the local Republicans. These guys are the "go to" people when it comes to business, right? Nobody expects the Republicans to give a rat's ass about the environment, our children's future, education, workers rights, health care for every one or addressing climate change. But when it comes to being all about MONEY, and how to be smart about making MONEY, these are supposedly THE experts. MONEY is their sole focus.
So, as the global economy was collapsing in 2008, what were the local Republicans supporting? Spending over a million dollars of taxpayer money promoting a toxic waste site to real estate developers! Now, we do remember one of the major victims of the economic collapse was REAL ESTATE. Around the US, properties lost their values, people went "underwater", and homeowners walked away from their properties. Real estate companies laid off employees, and closed.
But those local Republican forward-looking financial experts in Clallam County really stepped up in this time of crisis to demonstrate their prowess. THEY saw this as an opportunity to show the public how to be fiscally conservative, invest wisely, and take advantage of their financial expertise.
While the rest of the country was trying to minimize their losses, here in Clallam County, our experts assured us spending hundreds of thousands courting real estate developers was the smart thing to do.
As always, the "right" people all collected their salaries until the scam ran it's course, and collapsed. And they just keep playing the same game, with a different name, year after year.
The school board is dissolving the skills center, blaming the state laws that won't let it continue. Of course the PDN still avoids mentioning the Emmy nomination that the students got, despite them speaking at the meeting. No mention of shorter 1 hour classes being less effective than 3-4 hour immersion. They do explain that graduation rates from technical classes are higher than the state average but fail to mention the drop-out rate in PA is abysmal. I'm sure that closing the skills center will help with that.
ReplyDeleteThe Convention Center is moving ahead. Look at the image. Half the property is allocated to two separate buildings for organizations that have nothing to do with the performing arts (feiro and the tribe). There is absolutely no additional parking included. Do you see anywhere downtown for 500 people to park? It doesn't matter though because they'll never be able to fill the seats on a regular basis. But can you imagine any other business getting away with not having additional parking?
And a local nutjob was pointing his rifle at passing cars on Friday. Cops found a lot more guns in his house.
Just another GREAT day in Port Angeles!
I have noticed a lot more houses going up for sale and actually selling for ridiculously high prices, but somehow all the empty commercial real estate just keeps sitting there empty.
I see so many "For Sale" signs up now. The ones I've noticed haven't moved, though. Maybe some are being bought for high prices (pity the poor people that got conned into buying !), but the vast majority of the ones I'm watching are just sitting there.
DeleteDid you notice how many times they quoted the law as the reason for the closing of the skills center? Did you notice how deftly they flouted the law in actually closing the skills center?
DeleteThey closed the skills center then sent a letter to OSPI asking permission to close the skills center. What a croc. School Board member, Cindy Kelly was the main cheerleader for closing the center then played hooky on the night of the vote. What a con.
Shutting down the Skills Center was a big hard slap in the community's face. The board wants your kids dumbed down even more, so the kids won't wise up and see how stupid these education adults really are.
DeleteThe Skills Center was a Karen Rogers era scam, and if someone smart digs deep enough...
DeleteAgreed on the financial scam, and the history of the building.
DeleteBut never-the-less it gave young people the opportunity to get real-world skills and personal development outside of a traditional classroom environment. Closing that down ensures they won't get that opportunity again unless they drop out and just get limited on-the-job training (assuming they could find a decent job).
