New Jersey Exit - AKA - Cherie Kidd: LOSER ***2nd UPDATE!!! VIDEO FOOTAGE!!!***

It's a pity she had to go all the way to the other coast to learn something anyone here could have told her. Cherie, you can't compete. You're a loser.

Yes, the Ms. Senior America pageant has come and gone, and Cherie Kidd did not win, place or show. The lucky Pageant Princess taking home the crown was Ms. New Jersey. Did we mention that the pageant was held in New Jersey?

Anyway, if you look at the far, distant right of the photo below, you can see Cherie with her robotic fake smile plastered across her face. So far to travel for so little, eh, Cherie? Just like when people come from out of the area to visit Port Angeles.

Now we just get to wait to see if and how the PDN covers this totally expected loss. In the meantime, if anyone has any better luck than me in finding any video of Cherie's dance, please do share.

***UPDATED!!!***

If looks could kill...Cherie's jealousy would be lethal!

***2nd UPDATE!!!***

Put on your 3D glasses, folks, and it's almost like Cherie is dancing...Well, watch it and see. Cherie helpfully puts herself front and center of the group dance...

  2. Exactly, expected loss.

But she and her supporters can't see that she and they are the very problem.

Think about it. They have held the reins of power in the area for the last couple of decades, and all that has happened is decline, decline and more decline.

Despite their promises to bring change and make things better, the reality we see and experience shows they fail, fail, and fail.

So, smile and put yet another positive spin on it, PDN, but it is all just more failures and declines.

  3. Always so negative. She has brought change. I got some in my pocket where dollars used to be. As for her song and dance, just come to any council meeting. We have nobody to blame but ourselves for this circus. Vote!

  9. Cherie always operates under two false assumptions.

One is that her "glories" somehow reflect well on the city council and the city itself. That's just not true.

Why is that not true? Assumption number two: Cherie assumes what she perceives as her successes are, in fact, successes. They are not.

She says she is a former motivational speaker. Anyone who has ever heard her shrill speaking voice knows that is a lie. She cannot speak clearly, precisely, or melodically to save her life.

She thinks dressing up in southern colonial gowns to attend public events makes her somehow look "classy" or elegant. It does not. She looks dated and clueless.

She thinks shutting down debate is the way to win an argument, or to make things "better". It is not. It makes things worse. Every time. Worse.

She thinks cobbling together some awful youtube show is an effective way to promote Port Angeles. It is not. Chiefly because Cherie is front and center in the show. Showing all the world that Port Angeles is probably as dated, shrill and out of touch as she herself is.

This sad pageant is the ultimate example of this deranged Cherie syndrome. She undoubtedly sees herself as being a classy lady; everyone that knows her sees just one more opportunity for her to embarrasses and debase herself. And her town. The one she represents.

If Cherie's antic shine any light at all on Port Angeles, it's like taking a flashlight and looking under the bed in a cheap motel. You might not have noticed the dust bunnies and cobwebs before, and maybe wouldn't even have thought of them at all. But with that light shining on them, you can't help but acknowledge them. And the cigarette butts. And the discarded syringes. Everything that makes a place look cheap and tacky and awful.

THAT is the kind of spotlight Cherie shines on her hometown. Like an x-ray of someone dying of lung cancer. It's not pretty.

    1. Yes, it could be the classic high school prom pic, where the girls compete for being Prom Queen, and jealous girls have the exact same look Cherie has.

      Delete
    2. How sad is that? She can't grow up. This is what happens when a girl is praised for her looks, and never anything else, as she grows up. She feels her whole worth is tied up in looking pretty, being an object.
They can't live without a man. How they "look" is locked in some princess mode.
Usually women grow up and out of that, or were lucky to have parents who never pushed "pretty" "ladylike" and "find a husband".
Cherie is a relic. She continues to be the over-indulged child, praised for being pretty, for singing and dancing and showing off.
She's never been able to put life in focus.

  14. Off topic, but it seems the PDN has been busted in yet another "misrepresentation of the truth", this time concerning the City Manager's salary as reported in a recent article.

We know the PDN twists facts and circumstances around in it's efforts to keep the status quo, and the cronies in power. This seems to be a clear example.

"The average salary of a state governor in 2009 was $124,398. The highest salary currently being accepted is that of Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf at $187,256. The lowest salaries are those of Maine Governor Paul LePage and of Puerto Rico Ricardo Rosselló at $70,000." --source wiki

    6. Anony 9:25am...you must be new here. Wait until the next increases in your utility bill, or the next time the city has some other reason for raising some fee.

WE have a small town, with a payroll of $20 million --- total budget of 120 million. Doesn't this seem odd considering the port is spun off, and the town is only 18000 people? That's nearly $2k per person for every man-woman-child & infant in this town.

As of April 2015, the country's 100 largest cities by population spent an average of $2,605 per citizen in the most recent fiscal year for which reports were available.

Small towns are supposed to be more efficient, and less expensive to run than large urban centers. So why are we paying so much?

The average wage for a city manager (all size towns) is $59k. The median wage is $88k So, why are we paying nearly double for ours?

This whole area is out of whack....welcome to Pauper Angeles.

    7. I think a couple of you have to go back and read the original post by Anon 7:32, which says the PDN has been caught misrepresenting the truth (again) in an article that talks about the City Managers salary.

The first couple of replies cited what the actual salary is, to which Anon 9:25 said " Thanks, but why id this an issue?" As in, the replies did not address what the PDN had lied about (again).

      And, well. Yes.

    8. 9:03, duh, it's because few of us actually care to get over/under/through the paywall, and sure as hell aren't going to pay Blackbottom a dime (much less 99 pennies).
I have no idea what the PDN actually wrote (about a PABA event, I hear) but, the article is not available online, and there is no way I would purchase their dead tree media edition, either.
However, to clarify THIS is what our city manager makes, yearly (2016 numbers):
      Taxable income - $141,834.40
      Taxable benefits - $5,471.19
      Non-taxable benefits - $42,619.62

      Total= $189,925.21

Taxable income is salary (wages) only.
Taxable benefits include an annual car allowance and a monthly health care offset.
Non-taxable benefits include health care and retirement contributions.

So, how is it that $189,925

Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam’s salary of $187,500 per year. The average annual salary for governors is slightly higher than $140,000. a year.

So, how does our little town's management compare to the people who run the STATE of WASHINGTON???

Governor of Washington Jay Inslee $171,898
Lt Governor of Washington Cyrus Habib $100,880
Secty of State Kim Wyman $120,459
      Attny General Bob Ferguson $156,270
      Treasurer Duane Davidson $133,750

So please tell me how ministering to a town of 19,000, with a budget of $110million somehow compares (in value-for-value) to the people who RUN the State (7.228 million people and a $41.3BILLION dollar budget).

What is wrong with this picture??

and, remember, before you answer --- we are an economically "challenged" area...

    9. At this point, Dan McKeen has been City Manager long enough to have been paid a million dollars.

So, the question becomes: Has Port Angeles gotten a million dollars worth of value from Dan McKeen?

      From Bill Bloor?

Think about all the things you might say "That must be worth a million bucks" about. I'm guessing no local city administrators make that list.

But you're still paying that money out. Dollar by dollar, day by day. And getting...Exactly what?

      Delete
    10. Okay. The answer is that the PDN article that is said to misrepresent the City Managers salary (lower than it actually is, I'm told) is not available on-line, and none of the readers here have seen it.

      Whew! Okay. Got it.

That the people of Port Angeles get ripped off, everyday, was never in doubt.

      https://www.docdroid.net/I2phagA/city-manager-wage-info-from-awc-salary-data.pdf

McKeen is ultimately responsible for about $120M annually, and over 100 employees. What is the pay scale for that in private industry? Right. You got nuthin'.

      Delete
    12. "private industry" define the industry? An industry where a former fire chief ascends to CEO? Where is that?
And, wages tend to be anchored to size and industry.

According to PayScale: A Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with mid-career experience which includes employees with 5 to 10 years of experience can expect to earn an average total compensation of $154,000 based on 1,060 salaries.

But, in rural areas, especially in an "impoverished" industry/area this can be as low as $73k.

So, get off your high donkey, Anony 6:52am.

    13. Oh hell, I know a plant manager in rural Georgia who has more than 200 employees, and his salary is $60k a year.

Meanwhile, the median salary for a plant manager (100 or more employees) is can range from $60k to 178k.

The problem with PA is that everyone thinks they should be "competing" with an urban center, highly skilled, high educational demand job -- just because.

    14. I was going to say "I don't understand why there are people who try to equate public service/government with "private industry", but then I remember who makes such stupid comments.

    16. Government is NOT private industry. In fact, the reason people went into government work, traditionally, was to have the nice comfy job that would never suffer from the ups-and-downs of economic cycles.

Sure, jobs in both public and private-sector organizations have similar qualifications, benefits and job security can differ. Benefits (especially retirement) are much greater in the public sector. Government employees enjoy excellent benefits, including health insurance, dental insurance, vacation time, sick leave and other income security benefits. Benefits make a position valuable even if the salary offered is lower than a private-sector salary. Government employees more often get retirement benefits.

Layoffs in government are nearly unheard of. Government jobs are generally more stable than private-sector jobs even in the worst downturn in the economy. And, always remember the key difference (and why government salaries are different from private sector ones): government jobs are often permanent appointments -- once an employee passes a probationary period, usually one year, they can only be fired for gross errors or illegal actions.

There was a study in 2009, that showed the wages as: the federal government worker averaged the highest at $67,756, followed by the private-sector worker at an average of $45,155 and finally by the local government worker at an average of $43,140.

This was average across the country. But meanwhile, here in Port Angeles, in Clallam County, Washington we pay MORE

Average Public Works Manager salary in United States is $68,500.
      Our public works director $158k

Average for Human Resources Manager $99k.
      Our Human Resources Manager $115k

      Average for City Clerk $29k
      Our City Clerk $81k

And, oddly enough, the Open Budgets which USED TO PROVIDE PREVIOUS YEAR SALARY DATA, has now had that function disabled.

So, you cannot see what the COLA are for the senior management (which was always tracking to the same amount the police and fire collective bargaining unit received).

Why you hiding this data, city of PA?

      Delete
    17. I do think that at least in private industry, they have to succedd or go bankrupt. Also, the customers can vote wit their dollars to not support them. With government they can just keep increasing taxes, and cutting services, and can just pass the buck on to the next elected officials or say it was a previous administration that failed, etc. They count on voter apathy to just keep on keeping on.

      Delete
    18. Indeed....the city council can have no say in salaries in city government. They can't interfere in the "professional city manager" decisions. And, our city manager has some ungodly amount of $$ at his disposal -- and can do things like raise someone's salary by 20% one year (you can't see any of that data anymore -- now that they've disabled most of the features of the site).

      Delete
    19. Another reason to step back our form of government...flush, rinse, start over.

      Delete
    20. So, government is some kind of evil black hole which has the sole purpose of screwing the public over in every way possible?

Government exists for a reason. In the best of applications, we collectively pay others to do the things we don't have time for, or don't want to do, and/or are for our "collective good". You know, like sewage collection and treatment, as one example.

But, as has been demonstrated over and over here in Port Angeles, the system also allows for corruption. Just like in all human endeavors. You know, like pedophile priests, crooked lawyers, used car salesmen, etc.

Rightly so, we object to the corruption. But I think we need to also remember all government isn't corrupted, evil or un-caring. I know, it is hard, living in Port Angeles.

      Delete
    21. @5:27 pm - Agreed. I have lived in some communities where I have been proud of our local government. Unfortunately those who are corrupt can see the opportunity in places like PA where cronyism and just the fact your family is from here seems to be enough to claim the perceived throne. Experience and integrity don't even begin to enter into it. Couple that with voter apathy and a backwoods mentality and it is ripe for failure. (or success in their minds)

    4. I'm sure that she was in the top 10...

      (ahh-chooo-bullshite)

....because that is what Ms. Kidd, that old kidder, told KONP.

      Lets look at reality.

She has no scruples. She will say anything that pops into that little, coifed, old head of hers. Like when it came to throwing Councilman Whetham under the bus during HER ethics complaint.

Or like in her OWN write-up for the old-misses lipstick lizard parade she said she was in a TV movie (not listed on IMBD, meaning, liar-liar pants on fire) and she continues to claim she is a "public speaker" (i.e. public squawker) with her own "successful business" blah blah blah (which we all know is flat out horse puke).

Cherie can't live in the real world -- with us real people, and those distasteful real things -- she must live in her fairy tale world where everything is light and pretty, sparkling and happy. La la la la. You know, there are these teeny little cute winged white angles that come down and carry off her dainty non-odoriferous glittery pink shit in wee-little zip lock baggies (her poopies don't stink because she is perfect). La la la.

la la la....Cherie's world is not the one WE live in.

So, yes, she was in the top 10...and, so so happy to be in bobbing, sequinned pink vision of delight, elbowing the other old ladies out of her way to stay in the front and center of that gosh-so-agile dance troupe. Golly what fun, watching a bunch of old biddies swaying to the music (betcha the old men were getting quite frisky with that spectacle).

Meanwhile those of us in the "real world" can only stare at her with our faces scrunched up (as if we were smelling something found, long forgotten in the far back of the refrigerator for months and months) and our mouths slack jawed and agape saying to ourselves "oh geez, what the hell?". Straining to wrestle with reason and grasping for understanding.

There is just no way to understand the "motivation" of a 70 year old woman to want so much to be a beauty queen. To resort to lying to the poor KNOP guy who seems so nice.) It just isn't something that even exists in the real world.

The only other thing to do is to, in unison, fall to our knees, head thrown back, arms outstretched towards the heavens, to ask our holy creator for guidance, to seek an answer to the only real thought in our collective minds: WHY?

I mean, it's like a really OLD person pretending to be young and attractive.

....oh wait. Yep, that would be Cherie.

I mean, if you're willing to give up your credibility over a New Jersey "beauty pageant"...You don't have much credibility left, do you?

And, of course, Cherie started with a credibility deficit to begin with.
