A Tie-Dyed-in-the-Wool Republican Good Ol' Boy

You should go here, and read this...

Remember this guy? He's dead and buried now...
That haircut must have cost a bundle, man.
Like, the cost of your soul, man.
Whoa.

  2. Ozzy wants so bad to look like he belongs up there with the big boys. Sandwiched in between Peach and Johnson he is really just fish-bait. They play him like a 3 string banjo and he is too fucking stupid to realize he's being played.

    1. I believe the line was "you sure got a purty mouth" that swung him to the dark side...
I watched him during the campaign, and he was already a lap dog.

  3. Mark has one of those "I know better than you", condescending ways of interacting.

Oh, yeah. Like what you hear from Repuglicons.

  4. What the heck do people expect when he was seen in public with snake handlers like Van De Wege & Tharinger? Do you pay no attention to very telling alliances like that? He never was a true democrat to begin with!

Everyone needs to give more thought and ask some seriously hard questions of your candidates. Don't just assume they'll do right.

Take Mr. Oppelt for example. Do you really believe for one second that he feels a "call to public service"? Does he really think his community neighbors are that stupid?

  5. If you want a preview of the city's new transportation district then look no further than the pool's taxing district. They'll be raising taxes without a vote, piling more debt on residents to the tune of $6.3 million for the next 20-30 years, destroying a perfectly good building that has provided a valuable social service for some of the least represented people in our community TO BUILD A PARKING LOT when there's a huge vacant lot less than half a block away that's been vacant for decades, not to mention the never even close to full parking lots of Goodwill and Rite Aid.

God forbid people have to walk a block to get to the pool, what is this, the big city? Fuck that, we need more parking lots, more people driving cars and less people walking or biking. We need less density of people and buildings so that we can build more roads and infrastructure that can't afford to maintain, so that we can create more special taxing districts to get more tax money.

Also not clearly explained is the fact that the pool district will likely be funding a very expensive renovation of warehouse space owned by Peninsula Behavioral Health to replace the building they're destroying. Is that even legal? It certainly doesn't seem ethical if taxpayers are not aware of the details.

Special taxing districts are widely abused to suck up taxpayer money because they have little to no oversight or accountability. They're also very difficult to get rid of once they've been created.

Take a look at this special from John Oliver to see what the worst-case possibilities are, because we all know Clallam County doesn't know how to do things properly.

    1. The track record of being an easy mark (no pun intended) draws other con artists out of the woodwork, wanting to get "their" share of the loot. These are people who do not play fair, and will do ANYTHING to get elected. (Think of how slimy some of the recent campaigns have been in Clallam County.)

These cons know that, owing to its remoteness and lack of density and poverty, there is little to no outside oversight of what happens in Port Angeles. This is especially true when some of those same con artists move up to "working" at the State level - like Tharinger, Van De Wege, Chapman, etc. I mean, does anyone REALLY think they're going to do anything to bring attention to the pressing problems there?

And spoil their own sweet set-up? Not gonna happen.

    2. Spot on, CK. When the peasants don't have much fight in them, the criminals flourish. Ever hear about the past decade in Gold Bar? Unfortunately we have some similarities. At some point the change rests with the citizens, and only the citizens.

    3. Back during the "Ethics Hearings" at city hall the attorney hired by the city to represent the accused city council member(s) was the same attorney who represented Gold Bar.
They travel in small circles eh?

  7. Just read a good article in Port O Call about the new progressive group in town, the one made up greatly of disaffected Democrats, pushed out of their own party for, I guess, caring too much about other people.

But really, is it any sort of shame to be excluded from such a rotten group? Look at the people who've been propping up the Democratic party locally: Pocket-lining politicians like Tharinger and Chapman, joined now by the latest disappointment, Mark Ozias. Crazy Norma Turner, crazy Tom Harper. Nothing but a bunch of liars, and lunatics, playacting that they want to "make things better" while doing everything they can to support the diseased status quo.

More and more, I'm of the mind that both national political parties are too far gone to be saved, and that candidates from either party sure don't deserve my vote. (Or my money!) The status quo isn't working, folks. Go independents!

    1. I can only imagine that the Powers That Be are very, very sick of having POC around at this point...You know, peddling their facts and all.

    3. The Port O Call is one of the only things keeping the local political system remotely accountable.

I hope they don't succeed in stopping it.
