He Said, She Said...He Did, But He Didn't?

How's this for some bullshit, crazy-making only-in-Clallam County thinking?

Nielsen concluded that Nichols likely “made overtures of romantic interest to Ms. Hendrickson for a period of several months in 2015, that he occasionally made indirect actions thereafter that Ms. Hendrickson could reasonably interpret as suggesting a continued romantic interest, and that some of Mr. Nichols’ attention was likely unwelcome to Ms. Hendrickson, but that Mr. Nichols did not create an intimidating, hostile or offensive work environment for Ms. Hendrickson.”

So he did "make overtures of romantic interest." He did "make indirect actions." And what he absolutely did was "unwelcome." AND YET...This ongoing, improper behavior somehow did not create an intimidating or hostile work environment???

Thanks for the handshake, but...
Mark would really prefer a hug.

Boy, Mark Nichols sure got his money's worth out of that "independent" "investigation."

It is insanity like this that helps breed mistrust in government, and, on a larger scale, leads to things like people voting for Donald Trump. If the local Democrats had two brain cells to rub together, they'd be all over this issue.

But of course, the Clallam County Democrats do not have two brain cells to rub together. Hell, they'll probably praise Nichols for his steadfast perseverance or something "balanced" like that.

And the cynicism and dysfunction continues to fester...Just another great day in Port Angeles, to be sure.

  1. Once again, you are right on target. If the head of the local justice system shows such poor judgement, and the so-called oversight system does nothing, what faith in "justice" can the local people have?

    1. we don't. We have a "pay or appear" that is a huge burden on the poor -- the one's dumb enough to get ensnared.

We have a "catch and release" criminal program with the judges to ensure we have a never-ending supply of low-end criminals.

We have an underfunded Police department. Our Fire department only got more firemen/emts because a bigger state agency threatened to increase insurance costs across the board. But, our Police department goes wanting.
Lets face it, we tend to pick the absolutely WRONG candidates, consistently.
This "prosecutor" was smarmy from the get-go. But he has a nice smile, and he's got that "bad boy" patina. I'm not surprised he got elected.

    2. Almost one half million dollars PER DAY is spent on Criminal Justice on the peninsula. I don't see that as "under-funded" just poorly managed.

    3. Just think about how many better ways that money could be spent. There are 70,000 residents in the entire county. Half a million, a DAY? What do we have, to show for it all? Just another source of "salaries"?

Do remember the Border Patrol, that built the fenced in facility over by McDonalds in Port Angeles for ?? million. They bumped up their patrolling members from a handful, to over 50. Even the cops themselves say they are bored to tears because they have nothing to do.

We just have money to throw away??

  2. How is it possible to have this much subject matter from a tiny little nothing town. Oops. I forgot. It's PA. I've been a loyal follower since day one btw. Genius! :D

    1. Yes, it is amazing that a little town called Port Angeles can be the magnet for such craziness, corruption and stupidity.

    2. Between the tide rising from global warming or the fall out from a North Korean nuclear strike on Seattle, Port Angeles will be toast within a decade.

    3. North Korea is only looking for attention. He wants to be considered by the world community as an "equal". And, we're giving that little shithead what he wants.

It won't be rising oceans, or North Korea that does Port Angeles in. It is our own stupidity. We keep this circus afloat. We vote these idiots into power. We stay home, and don't voice our dissent.

Donald Trump was voted into power by Americans.

That reveals our demise. Trump is only the symptom of an America lost in it's fear, striking out with absurd rhetoric, trying to be ".. Great Again".

  3. Great photo of a rotten person. What a piece of shit. Perfect for Clallam County.

  4. Of course the Democratic Party is led by Norma Turner who is on the board of the housing authority. She has her hand out for a $900,000 grant from the county, approved by the Mark Nichols of the county prosecutor's office. You cannot have an opposition party with their hand out to the ruling party. Of course if you complain to the state's attorney general he will tell you to take it up with Mark Nichols. See how nicely it works.

    1. The state has used Clallam County for many of its dirty deeds. In return, the crackers are mostly free to do as their neanderthal skulls tell them.

  5. Once again the county taxpayers are paying for his legal defense. So far Nichols has cost us $500,000 this year on a public records case, one and a half million for the age discrimination case filed by employees in his office, now these legal defense costs, he has already appointed two new deputy prosecuting attorneys who pretend to represent the county but are answerable only to Nichols yet paid by the county taxpayers. How long will the board of commissioners keep paying to keep him out of trouble just because he cannot control his libido?

    1. The commissioners retain him because he's rotten to the core.

  7. Norma Turner is the one you should really look into if you have the time. The power players are never the ones with their names on the signs or pictures in the paper.

Also - you should look into who got the contract to remove the trees from Lincoln Park.

Its not the spender of the money it is the recipient who you should talk about.

    1. Norma's husband Gene, who used to be a doctor here, was really raked over the coals by the press and the locals back when his big medical scandal erupted. It was, I'm sure, a terrible thing to live through, and I cannot for the life of me see why they didn't just move away then and start fresh somewhere else.

But they didn't. They stayed right here in the community that turned on them viciously. Ever since then, Norma has been very, very active in all sorts of issues here. I've always wondered if, under her patina of community service, there wasn't a core of get back in there. Certainly at this point it's no longer possible to view her as even trying to be a force for progress or good here, so, I have to fall back on my original hypothesis.

She's actively trying to undermine this town.

    2. She is older than dirt...so that shouldn't be a problem for much longer.

    3. Anon@7:39AM - Norma is a shaker for Dems and has had M.O. as her lapdog but he will break the leash.

Gene has a mild manner but Norma appears to be overperacribed on testosterone. Take a deeper dive of boards at B&G club and PHA. The next generation of hooligans are taking their seats at the big-table.

  8. Who got the money for the trees?

The city meeting didn't disclose, nor did the council ask, nor did the port reps offer -- WHO the port hired. And, it WAS the port doing the hiring. And, then once the trees are cut the port pays back to the city...or so they claim. I'd love to an audit on this.

Meanwhile, so the PORT pays into a parks fund, that was originally set up for just Lincoln Park replanting, but has been changed to "all parks" (meaning Civic Field). Wonder if that is how they paid for their new 'sound system" that they just golly, gotta have, not that anyone cared when it was our high school kids playing there.

Welcome to our two faced, screwed up little town.

The bigger question is why we have a guy running for Council (position #2) who is both part of the Civic Field/Lefties stuff, AND who has un-named silent partners in his business ventures.

How do we know when there is a conflict of interest?

    1. It was a public contract to remove the trees. Go get it and you will begin to understand.

    2. check to see if the silent partner cut down the trees.

    3. The guy running for city council who is part owner of the Lefties has his campaign signs posted all around Civic Field. Conflict of interest before he's even through the primary.

      Delete
    4. Are any signs ON Civic Field proper? Because if they were...That would be really, really stupid and revealing and, well, just really Port Angeles.

      Delete
    5. I might be wrong on this but wasn't the tree cutting deemed an "emergency"? Would that mean they could award the contract to whomever they wanted without going out for formal bid hmmmmmmm???

    6. The signs were gone last night. I hear several city employees got their ears bent about it at the games Fri & Sat. Oppelt did not clear it with the city. Those sponsor signs are controlled by the Lefties, and the revenue goes to them ... which means to Oppelt, to some extent, as part owner. But evidently he thought he could get away with political ads on city property. Nope. Now he's got signs all over Maurices, and I bet the Lincoln & Gastropub are next. This dude is channeling Trump.
