How Much Will It Cost to Pay for the Fix That's Clearly Already In?

Hmmm...Better get out your checkbooks - and check your cynicism at the door, oh please - because Peter Goldmark, Washington's Commissioner of Public Lands, is coming to Port Angeles for a fundraiser at Kokopelli Grill.  A fundraiser co-hosted by long-time fellow travelers Mike Chapman and Matthew Randazzo.

Now, we all know the damage that Randazzo did to the Clallam County Democratic Party, with much of that damage done to protect and promote (the then non-Democratic) Mike Chapman. For all his scheming and backstabbings, Randazzo was "punished" by being given the cushy job he still holds in Peter Goldmark's office - a job he was and is woefully unqualified for. Clearly the fix was in there, eh?

So now, once again it's Chapman in the spotlight, and I have to wonder what fix is in for him, since he has announced, promised and sworn on a stack of Bibles that he won't run for County Commissioner again. (Of course, that was all said before he "evolved" again and became a Democrat - an act that may have negated all his previous promises.) But whatever the case, when you've got these particular players involved, you can be sure that something is going on, and that that something is a lot closer to self-serving than it is to "public service."

In any case, this slimeball meet and greet fundraiser will be held on the 8th, from 3PM - 4PM, which is a great time for working people, by the way. Then get ready for whatever the next chapter is in the never-ending saga of Clallam County Crooks and Conmen. Watch that dark nexus between the County Courthouse and the State Capitol, because something is (always) in the works.

  1. I think we have seen over and over that the established political parties on the Oly Pen are totally corrupt. They haven't done anything meaningful for a long time, if ever.

But, I think you're getting close to the real, serious "fix" that is being cultivated. The long established timber interests, and what they are working on.

  2. Interesting.

While I agree that Mike Chapman is unlikely to voluntarily step off of the gravy train, I have my doubts about his desire or ability to move higher up into a state position. For one thing, his whole appeal has always been the whole aw shucks local boy thing. That sort of persona is harder to spread out over a larger area successfully. Also, going for a state spot would require a lot of work and campaigning, and I don’t think Chapman has it in him to do that much heavy lifting.

But clearly his resume is very slim, and he is making more in government than he could ever hope to make in the private sector. I think he’ll just end up running for county commissioner again, as the “new” Mike Chapman. He can say that the “old” Chapman promised not to run, but with Mark Ozias being elected, and Chapman having switched political parties (again) it’s a new day and so forth and so on. If there’s one thing Chapman has been good at, it’s been preserving his place at the trough. As I said before, I don’t expect him to just give that up easily.

Still, no matter what Mike Chapman is up to, or what his plans are, it’s a shame he is still obviously so closely aligned with Matthew Randazzo. He is trouble, and that sort of trouble can be contagious. Chapman had better watch out to make sure he doesn’t catch something nasty.

  3. After all he did, the fact that Randazzo dares show his face here shows he has no shame. After all he did, the fact that the local Democrats will welcome him here shows they have no clue.

And here we are, living in their kingdom of unemployment, drug abuse, and drop outs.

  4. I got an email forwarded to me about this, and I noted that, unlike most of these type of meet and greet and eat events, this one will not feature any free food or drinks. None. Which means that anyone attending who wants anything will have to buy it themselves. I can't help but think that this might be a way for Randazzo to try to pay back the Kokopelli people for all the free meals he scammed off of them while he and his equally sleazy wife lived here.

  5. This event causes me to question Chapman's judgment. Why he would re-associate himself with someone who is clearly "damaged goods" in this community - defies logic. It does make you wonder who Chapman consults with and listens to.

    2. I have a hard time believing that Mike Chapman has people he consults. I mean, why would they tell him to switch parties and positions so much? That seems like the workings of one unsure mind, because from the outside, it doesn't make a lot of sense.

    3. Actually, every change in political party Chapman has made, made total sense. Unusual, yes, but so were the motivations.

He was a Republican, until he dared not to endorse the looney tunes candidate the Clallam Republican Party chose. and he endorsed Steve Tharinger for re-election. Anyone who attended County Commissioners meeting back then would agree he did the right thing.

But, the Clallam Republicans flew into a fury, and publicly disowned him and his candidacy for re-election. So, he registered as an Independent, and won against the crazy Republican.

More recently, the voters put brainless Bill Peach into office, who immediately attached himself lovingly to Jim McEntire. Chapman had no hope of accomplishing anything Jim McEntire didn't approve of, and descended into an understandable funk.

Then, the voters booted out Jim McEntire, leaving Bill Peach to blink vacantly around like a lost puppy. Chapman wisely saw an opportunity to help Mark Ozias get things going in better directions, and registered as a Dem.

He didn't have to do that. He could have remained an Independent, and just voted "the right way". But, I think he wanted to make a very public statement.

  6. Off topic, but I just had to puke when I saw the PDN article about the Revitalize people buying up a half dozen or so cheap coats at the Goodwill store, and putting them on the rusty sculptures so that needy people can take them.

This is the same group that has been working tirelessly to get poor people removed from downtown. The same group of heartless creeps that have been trying to get the Lee Hotel shut down. The same group of self centered yuppies that have done everything they can to "clean the streets of them".

So, who is supposed to pick up these coats, if no poor people are allowed downtown?

And, are these coats supposed to make the Revitalize drones feel better about themselves, while the homeless sleep outside in the cold? How about organizing a taxi service to transport these poor souls out to the shelter by the airport. You know, out there where the other animal shelter is located? Because, the only remaining shelter doesn't open until way after the sun goes down.

What a disgusting bunch of low life.

    1. I'm sure they'll attach notes to the coats reading "here's you coat, now get out of town!"

  7. In reference to the breaking national news....I wonder how long it will be before there's a shooting at the Clallam County courthouse? The area's rife with anti-government kooks, and the local Republicans only stoke those flames of anger, AND our commissioners are totally unwilling to put safeguards in place to protect county employees, and themselves. I guess it's more important to be "fiscally conservative" than it is to care about the safety of your fellow workers and citizens. Shameful!

    1. Yes, I know making policy based on dramatic events, no matter how statistically insignificant they actually are, is a well practiced approach in the US, but doesn't make rational sense.

Oh, that's right. There is that troublesome word again: rational.

      Be afraid.

    2. Get off that shit, there is no such thing as "security."
The repubs had a sign in the window, 'we should be shooting."
      Who ya gonna call?

    3. Or, for that matter, a mass shooting anywhere in town - post office, DHHS, Lee Hotel, one of the grocery stores, anywhere.

"Gun violence in the United States results in thousands of deaths and thousands more injuries annually.[1] According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in 2013, firearms (excluding BB and pellet guns) were used in 84,258 nonfatal injuries (26.65 per 100,000 U.S. citizens) [2] and 11,208 deaths by homicide (3.5 per 100,000),[3] 21,175 by suicide with a firearm,[4] 505 deaths due to accidental discharge of a firearm,[4] and 281 deaths due to firearms-use with "undetermined intent"[5] for a total of 33,169 deaths related to firearms (excluding firearm deaths due to legal intervention). 1.3% of all deaths in the country were related to firearms."

    5. Number of American civilians who died worldwide in terrorist attacks last year: 8 — Minimum number who died after being struck by lightning: 29.

Obesity is 5,882 to times 23,528 more likely to kill you than a terrorist.

You are 5,882 times more likely to die from medical error than terrorism.

According to a 2011 CDC report, poisoning from prescription drugs is even more likely to kill you than a car crash. Indeed, the CDC stated in 2011 that – in the majority of states – your prescription meds are more likely to kill you than any other source of injury.

You are 452 times more likely to die from risky sexual behavior than terrorism. (And probably have a lot more fun, too!)

  8. Hey! Did you see? The Port Angeles city council restored the $60 some odd thousand dollars of funding for the Peninsula humane society.

So the one animal shelter gets funding. But cold weather shelters for humans out on the streets?

    Such caring people.
