And the Winner is...

We're just days away from Election Day. Decisions will be made, fates will be sealed.

Will Dim King Jim's fake face of "fiscal conservatism" carry the day? Or will the desire of Mark Ozias to be a professional and responsible representative resonate with voters more?

Will Cherie Kidd once again be rewarded for her chipmunk cheerful idiocy? Or might the indecisive dark horse Dan Bateham pull ahead? Or will a loud cry of "NO THANKS" to both candidates be the popular position?

So many races, so many votes, and so few days left...What do you predict is going to happen?

  1. I predict the Moldy Mattress wins in a landslide!

    1. That's no way to talk about our next mayor.

    2. By a landslide means beside a landslide, as in, near the hospital when it finally slides down the hill in a landslide. Or am I missing something?

  2. Nothing speaks to a lack of confidence like nothing. The silence here is deafening. I don't see a lot of hope being demonstrated.

    1. Given that over 300 people have visited this page today, and these are the only comments so far, I have to agree with you. Silence is golden? I don't think so.

    2. Given such low vote percentages, it is easy to see most people .. wait for it... "Don't care".

Yes folks, I think we found Port Angeles' motto: " We don't care".

    3. Kim Wyman's statement this morning about low statewide voter turnout indicates PA turnout fits the bell curve. Even those enlightened living elsewhere do not care.

    4. If anything, the motto of Port Angeles should be "That's Methed Up".

  3. I was hopeful reading the PDN article about Ozias having raised more in campaign contributions, but that doesn't necessarily indicate a win. I'm biting my nails on this one.

    1. I see it as the Republican's being so confident in McEntire's re-election they know they don't have to do any heavy lifting, or giving. In other words, it's a BAD sign.

    2. I see the PDN "Headlining" Ozias having more money than McEntire repeatedly as an attempt to motivate his constituency to get out there, and vote.

This happens over and over. People get complacent, and the jerks win.

  4. I'm looking forward to saying "The Kidd era is over!"

  5. I'm not so optimistic. I think Cherie Kidd will get back in. I still think McEntire will win, although I no longer think it will be by a landslide.

Anyway, I voted, I did my part. But any optimism I have vanished a long time ago. Faces come and go, but any change is incremental at best. Next year will be the same as this year, with more debt and less quality of life. And the downward slide will continue.

That's my prediction. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

  6. More years of stupidity. It has something to do with this area. Maybe the magnetic fields, inbreeding, bad diet, genetics?

  7. Just a question: How did it come about that the commissioners election falls on a year with neither presidential or congressional candidates on the ballot? Guaranteed to be low interest.

    1. Three County Commissioners, with staggered terms, means some elections will fall in off years. I'd suggest talking to the Charter Review folks if you'd like to see this changed.

And please note that I resisted the urge to say something sarcastic about "staggered terms."

    2. Take note of the PUD Commissioners as well. They've been in office for years and years. Watch their meetings that someone has started posting to youtube. Half cannot stay awake and the arrogance and apathy are appsrent. One is up for election every two years but they for the most part end up running unopposed.

  8. I've never missed a General since I turned eighteen, and I'm not about to start. Ballots (mine, and my wife's) will be dropped at the Courthouse in about fifteen minutes. It's about time to dim King Jim.

  9. So, Mark is winning at this point, 53% to Dim Jims 46 %.. a 1,000 vote lead. Very good to see!

And, Cherie got no mandate at all, winning only 300 votes more than Dan Bateham.

Marolee didn't win, but both are okay, so no loss there. Hopefully Marolee will run in the next election, and build upon tonight's changes.

    1. Yes, I agree. Thank you Marolee.

  11. It's really a shame Marolee didn't get positioned next to an incumbent, like Sissi or Cherrie. How do the council positions get picked? As an outsider it seems very random, not corresponding to location or... well, anything.
