Can We Quote You?

Dan DiGuilio, who has decided not to run for City Council again: "I just want to spend more time with the family...I just want to take it easy for a while. I am very pleased with the leadership and the employees at the City." On a related note, in trying to find people who might be interested in running for City Council..."There hasn't been anybody who's stepped up."

Sissi Bruch, who apparently feels she's going to run again: "I feel like I really care about the City, and I do my homework. I feel like we are pushing the City in a good direction..."

Cherie Kidd, noted birdbrain, says it's another great day in Port Angeles - at least for her: "I'm in great health and spirits and my business is doing well, and it's a good time for me to serve the community. I am at the point that I am feeling I am knowledgeable and effective..." Kidd also believes her "knowledge and experience" will be "stabilizing factors" on the City Council. Please note how she "stabilized" that last sentence with the phrase "I am" three times.

Meanwhile, at the County...

Mike Chapman, increasingly unstable element and County Commissioner, had this to say: "It's sad that we can give $150,000 to the EDC but we can't help the food bank."

There's that old joke about how can you tell a lawyer (or politician) is lying? Answer: Their lips are moving. But every so often, some truth does manage to slip out, intentionally or not...

  1. I am delighted that Re-run DiGuilio won't be going for the three-peat.

I feel that there are viable candidates to oppose Spineless Sissi and Birdbrain Kidd. I feel hopeful that they will not be allowed to cruise in another term without a challenge to their pathetic record.

I am in agreement with Mike Chapman.

  2. But wait, wait...Don't I remember that Chapman voted to go along with giving the EDC that money? Now he's crying crocodile tears about it? That seems pretty two-faced to me.

  3. DiGuilio and Kidd are both beyond checked out from reality. It's painful to behold.

Leadership at the city? Are you kidding? Massive debt, crashing economy, crumbling infrastructure, utility rates skyrocketing, utility bills going unpaid, environmental issues left unaddressed, schools failing, drug use way, way above average, downtown hollowed out, the population shrinking...And on and on and on. All THIS is what your so-called "leadership" has helped create, Mr. DiGuilio. You're pleased with this???

As for Cherie Kidd "serving" the community, or "stabilizing" the city council...Please see the above, Cherie. THIS is what you've helped create and enable. Your "service" is KILLING this community. Please, STOP serving us. PLEASE.

  4. Cherie Kidd's business is thriving, she caters to people moving out of town. She runs a u-haul stand.

  5. Sigh...Why do I have visions of more uncontested City Council races?

  6. So, if nobody steps up, and DannyBoy is not running, what happens?

    1. Peter Ripley finally (finally!) gets appointed to the City Council.

    2. Actually, as we saw at the council meeting a few weeks ago, there are new people moving to the area. They don't seem too impressed with the hillbilly status quo approach, and DO get off their asses and ARE involved to make things better.

    3. The remaining Council members will draw lots to see who gets to hold and vote for two seats...

  7. Apparently VIMO and the Food Banks were told that there is no legal mechanism for the county to provide money to private non-profits... Unless it's the EDC. Who wants to guess which organizations will help more people this year? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

  8. I guess that Cherie Kidd would rather be a Queen in Hell than an angel in Heaven. That's one possible explanation for doing her level best to make life in Port Angeles so hellish....

  9. Cherie Kidd sounds like a bad comedy sketch: "I AM somebody. I AM somebody. Darn it, I AM somebody." Yeah, she's a joke, but she's not funny.

  10. Chapman better watch out. He's actually talking about lowering taxes and spending more on projects that benefit the public. You know, things conservatives are SUPPOSED to talk about, instead of constantly funneling public funds to private projects that seem like outright cronyism. If he doesn't back away and start complaining about he's victim of the libruls and lamestream media, the local "Republican" chapter will excommunicate him.

    1. I guess you're new to the area. Chapman WAS excommunicated by the local Republicans an election cycle or two ago ( It all seems like a blur, these days) in a very public way. Literally. They said he couldn't put "Republican" on his campaign signs, took away all financial support, publicly trashed him, and ran a candidate against him. He ran as an independent, and still won.

    2. Kicked out of the Republicans, and then he used and manipulated the Democrats...He's pissed off and alienated most of the people locally, which now explains his big public displays of contrition, and his decision not to run again. Too many burnt bridges.

    3. I'm not new to the area. Watched in disgust the local "Republican's" silence to the water shut-off fiasco, the Gateway, the Incubator and the cronyism during that time. Caught the start of the Democrat's infighting and implosion before I stopped paying attention (personal reason), so I must have missed Chapman's excommunication. Interesting, but not surprising.

Honestly, if it wasn't for the fact these politicians are wrecking the area, I'd say it's interesting to watch all this. "May you live in interesting times..." indeed!

  11. If we can get two other decent people on council, maybe Sissi will "bloom" into her potential. Given her credentials and profession as a planner, it sure is a better foundation than a retired transit blob.

Then, two years from now, we replace the other useless seat warmers on council, and move forward.

    2. Well, you're assuming that Sissi is unopposed in the next election and that she wins.

I prefer that she does her "blooming" out of the city council.

    3. @ anon 3:45

And, you're suggestion is exactly what?

  12. You snooze you lose, I agree, with some support Sissi can bring a lot to the city. She just needs someone unlike Cherie and Danny to work with. More than anything they need someone to ride herd on city staff. They are the one's guiding us to the bottom.

  13. Wow, "unstable element" is sure right. Mike Chapman continues his crying and remorse tour, according to today's PDN. It sure seems like something else is behind all this emotional drama he's been displaying, other than county business.

  14. I "feel" like Sissi has had her chance, and been found disappointing. That goes double when you ad in her attempt to jump ship for the County. Yes, she's clearly smarter than her colleagues on the City Council, but more often than not, it seems like she lowers herself to their level, rather than her being able to raise them up to hers. Going along to get along means you get nowhere.

    1. What are you supposed to do when your goals are not held by the majority of the council? Rant away like Chapman? Anybody think that approach is gaining Mike any credibility?

But, if somebody better runs against Sissi, then it is a horse race. Until then.

  15. "(Port Commissioner Colleen) McAleer said she would like to see the port create 1,000 jobs in the next five years — not at the port but in private industry."

    Bwah ha ha ha!

Again with the pie-in-the-sky promises. It's not like we haven't had years--no, decades--of empty promises already. Hey, how about you do something BEFORE bragging about it?

  16. Kidd has gotten all community minded now that she is facing election. Now she wants to go get up some money to fence the 8th Street bridges even after professionals in the mental health field said that was a bad idea. She knows she will get some fawning coverage from the PDN and off she goes for another lap around the track. Will someone please run against her. If you can set your bullshit meter real high and call city staff on their bullshit then you are just right for city council. It ain't brain surgery. If it was these cats now on the council can do it then so can you.
